PHASE FIVE
Status: Fundraising
Much like Phase Four, Phase Five primarily focuses on the Greenlee Mountain area, but also connects to Bell Ridge and Beidleheimer Road. This portion of the project has the makings of an instant classic, a Central Pennsylvania ridgetop traverse that continues for miles.

Building on the planned trails of Phase Four, the centerpiece will naturally be the ridgeline trail that takes users to or from Whipple Dam State Park. The south-facing connection from the ridge to Greenlee Road is key to piecing together various loop options, and the old rail grade from Greenlee to Beidleheimer Road, converted into usable singletrack, will further aid in creating new ways to piece together trail experiences.

The steep fall line of Kettle Trail, which connects the Mid-State Trail to Lonberger Path, will also be addressed.

Phase Five includes a total of 9.6 miles of new or rerouted trails. The original trail assessment and public comments indicated a desire for connected trails to create loops, and when complete, Phase Five ties together numerous opportunities.

Fundraising is currently underway, with planned construction scheduled for 2028.

To date, RTA has benefited from the generous donations or in-kind contributions from a number of sources including Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, and the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County as well as local businesses and individuals.

RTA is currently fundraising to achieve a 20% match, or $125,000, to apply for grants and make Phase Five a reality in 2028. If you are able, please consider donating today.
