Applied Trail Research, contracted project manager, has completed the Phase One onsite inspection for Musser Gap last week. With improved weather conditions, Dirt Sculpt has adjusted its operational priorities. Since the project's commencement on January 3, 2025, approximately 4 miles of new trail has been established. The upper segment extends beyond Tussey Ridge past the Mid State Trail (approximately 0.5 miles), while the lower segment, closer to the Musser Gap trailhead, has not yet reached the summit of the first ridge.
Dirt Sculpt has now redirected its focus toward refining the existing rough-cut trails to completion before proceeding with additional trail development.
Given the changing weather conditions and increased trail use in the forest, we remind everyone that the new trails are not complete and are in a very sensitive state. The recently disturbed soil on the trail tread is very soft and the trails still require final grading and compaction. It is imperative for the success of the project that all users refrain from utilizing the trails at this time.
